Hulking masses of muscle with small eyes peering out from rough faces of thick, toughened skin, Kormin are revered for their incredible strength and skill with their hands. Far in the past, Kormin were both respected and greatly feared by the smaller races. Once the arcane arts began to be learned, however, the Kormin quickly learned to fear it. The Kormin are at the mercy of arcane magic, soaking it up but utterly incapable of controlling it. In a matter of years, Kormin went from the builders of Kenafiirs towers and castles to fearing the races that lived within them. Now the race is divided. Many still live throughout the world, trusting the laws of society to protect them from blackhearted wizards who would bend the Kormin into mindless servants or hunt them for sport. Many others, however, have retreated into the wastes and deserts where only they can thrive. These tribes vary, but many of them have become more and more distrustful of magic, to the point of killing outsiders at the first sign that they can control those dreaded energies. Others simply revel in their freedom and take pride in helping those of the physically weaker races who ask for their assistance.
Humans come in an infinite variety and that makes the Kormin wary of them. Most Kormin appreciate that every lawful human civilization protects their Kormin citizens, rather than enslaving them. Still, the Kormin are prideful and not inclined to live on the good graces of others.
Many are the Kemerai who try to become friends of the Kormin people. Many Kormin appreciate this, but do not accept it. Perhaps their intentions are noble, but what would be the cost of betrayal? Best to keep the Kemerai and their magic-tainted blood at a distance.
The Quixix are the only race Kormin generally feel comfortable around. While capable of mastering the arcane, they tend to ignore it in favor of appreciating the natural world, an inclination the Kormin share. Additionally, Quixix sometimes adapt to live in the far corners of the world where Kormin gather. This earns them both respect as well as appreciation on the rare occurances where they Kormin encounter a problem they themselves cannot easily solve.
